How to access your email accounts through Webmail

One question that we get fairly often is “How do I access my email account when I’m away from my main computer?”.

Although you could look at temporarily installing Outlook onto a computer you have access to and then connect it with your email account, the much easier way of accessing it is by logging into the email account directly through your browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) using Webmail.

Webmail is a login portal that you can use to access any email account setup on our servers, to receive and send mail just as you would through email programs like Outlook or Mac Mail.

Here are the two ways you can access your email accounts through the Webmail portal.

1. Directly accessing Webmail

The easiest way to access your email account’s Webmail area is by going to:

http://www.yourdomainname.com.au/webmail

By using the URL above (with your domain name instead of the demonstration domain used above) you will be taken to a login screen asking for you to enter your email address and email address password.

Once you have entered both of those correctly, you will then be taken to a screen that will give you a choice between three different Webmail applications, each with a uniquely styled interface. All three of these choices will do the same things (receive emails, send emails, etc), so the choice between them is mostly guided by which interface you prefer the look of.

The Roundcube application has the simplest interface and is the easiest to use, so that is the one we recommend most-often.

2. Accessing Webmail through cPanel

The alternative way of accessing the Webmail area for your domain’s email accounts is through the cPanel management area.

The cPanel management area is what you use to manage all the different aspects of your hosting account, including your email accounts; the login details for this would have been emailed through to you when you initially setup the hosting account with us.

If you don’t have the login details for your cPanel area, we recommend contacting us by sending an email to support@wd3.com.au asking for us to reset them and have them emailed through to you.

Once you have logged into the cPanel management area, you will want to scroll down until you see the Email section, then click on the Email Accounts icon; you will then be shown a list of the different email accounts you have setup on your domain.

From that list you will want to look for the email account you are looking to access, and once you have found it, you will want to click on the More drop-down button on the right-hand side and click on the Access Webmail link.

You will then be directly logged into the Webmail for the email account you selected.
